Betta Neo: Gateway, App Modes and Pool-Fit Limits

Start with AUTO/APP versus APP

The Neo manual gives the physical switch two different operating choices. AUTO/APP starts autonomous cleaning without a gateway or app connection and can accept app control after pairing. APP depends on the app and begins paused until you issue a command or a configured schedule starts it.

That distinction is useful during setup: a Neo that cleans in AUTO/APP but will not respond in APP has a connected-control problem, not automatically a motor or charging failure. The gateway and charging adapter are listed among the accessories packed inside the debris basket, so inventory them before first use.

Treat the 600-foot gateway figure as a placement claim

Betta advertises the included gateway with an extended connection range up to 600 feet and describes app management from outside the property. Those are manufacturer claims, not a range measured at this site. Walls, outlet placement, the home network and the gateway's permitted location still determine whether the connected setup works in a particular yard.

Choose a gateway location before ordering and keep basic operation separate from remote access. AUTO/APP provides a documented autonomous fallback if pairing or connectivity is unavailable; schedules, status and app direction control still require the prescribed connected setup.

Schedules do not create battery runtime

The current product page lists Auto, Smart Weather-Adaptive and Scheduled modes. These change when the machine is intended to run; they do not guarantee uninterrupted cleaning or establish how the control reacts to every forecast. Solar exposure, battery state and the physical pool still govern operation.

Neo also supports the supplied wall adapter. Its winter section says that below 68°F owners should remove the unit, switch it off and use the documented angled-solar or adapter-charging procedure. That passage is troubleshooting guidance, not a complete published operating-temperature range.

Do not borrow another Betta's depth number

Betta's current comparison lists Neo for above-ground and in-ground pools, with an ideal coverage claim up to 40 by 60 feet. It does not list Neo for infinity pools. The current general FAQ publishes minimum depths for SE, SE Plus and Flex but omits Neo, so none of those figures should be transferred to it.

The Neo page lists a soft casing and shallow-water safeguard, and its manual explains adjustable anti-stranding bars. Those features do not establish a minimum depth or prove clearance through a tanning shelf, stool or narrow connection. Ask Betta for a Neo-specific written limit when shallow access controls the purchase.

Keep the chemistry and safety limits with Neo

The Neo manual permits fresh or salty water up to 5,000 ppm and lists a one-year manufacturer warranty, with seawater excluded. It also says to remove the unit before swimming and not to operate it while another pool-cleaning device is in the pool.

Betta's broader FAQ describes possible simultaneous use with some wired cleaners, but that conflicts with the Neo manual. Follow the exact supplied manual and obtain model-specific written guidance rather than treating the broad FAQ as permission.
