Betta Neo Gateway and App: Switch, Range and Setup Checks
Start with Neo's physical switch. AUTO/APP can clean autonomously without pairing; APP starts paused until the app issues a command or a schedule starts. If basic cleaning works in AUTO/APP, troubleshoot the gateway path separately instead of treating the entire skimmer as failed.

A still Neo may be in APP mode
Read the physical switch before diagnosing the phone connection. The Neo manual says AUTO/APP can operate automatically without gateway or app pairing. APP starts paused until an app command or configured schedule starts it.
If autonomous operation works but app commands do not, report those results separately. If the switch and app appear inconsistent, capture both states. Repeatedly moving the switch is not a documented factory-reset procedure.
Inventory the supplied gateway before setup
The manual says the gateway, charging adapter, anti-stuck foam noodle and documents are packed inside the debris basket. Use the supplied gateway and approved power equipment with the official BettaBot app. Installing the app does not add Neo functions to SE, SE Plus or Flex.
Record the precise stage that fails: phone cannot discover the gateway, gateway cannot join the home network, or gateway is connected but cannot reach the skimmer. Preserve the exact error screen. The skimmer's water protection does not establish protection for gateway power equipment.
Treat 600 feet as a manufacturer maximum
Betta advertises gateway range up to 600 feet and app management from outside the property. Neither statement proves performance through a particular wall, router layout or landscape. Note whether commands fail everywhere or only at one end of the pool, and whether the problem began after moving the gateway or changing the home network.
For support, include the Neo serial number, gateway identification, switch position, app version and exact failed stage or location. Say whether AUTO/APP still cleans autonomously. Remove passwords and unrelated account information from screenshots.
Do not use an undocumented reset
Follow the current Neo manual and in-app prompts. Repeated switch movement is not documented as a factory reset, and a reset procedure for another connected pool product should not be transferred to Neo.
If AUTO/APP also fails, move back to physical checks: battery indicator, solar or approved adapter charge, basket seating and visible propeller or impeller obstruction. Switch off before inspecting moving parts and stop if equipment is damaged.
