The headline numbers measure different things

Aiper’s current US page lists a 4-liter basket and 150-micrometer filtration for EcoSurfer S2. Beatbot lists 9 liters and 380 micrometers for Ultra. These are manufacturer figures rather than results from our own comparative test.

Basket capacity describes available space; microns describe nominal filter fineness. Neither number tells you how often you will empty the robot. A leaf can occupy substantial space, while a thin layer of fine material may restrict a basket long before its volume is full. Choose which limitation matters in your pool rather than declaring the larger number better.

Choose a debris scenario you can observe

If your basket problem is bulky leaves accumulating between inspections, Ultra’s larger documented capacity is a reason to investigate it. If fine material is your main concern, S2’s finer stated filter deserves attention. These are conditional shopping recommendations, not guarantees of capture.

For a useful trial, inspect comparable mornings and note remaining surface debris, basket condition and any stranded locations. Record whether wind changed or the pool cover was used. Otherwise, an easier cleaning day can make one robot appear better without showing a hardware advantage. We have not performed that controlled comparison.

App features do not remove physical work

Both brands describe phone controls; Aiper also documents scheduling and a baffle intended to retain debris when reversing or docking. Think through retrieval and basket removal before prioritizing software features.

Look for a comfortable place to lift and empty the robot. Consider how far you would carry a wet basket, where you would rinse it and how you would store the approved charger. These small ownership details recur more often than the initial pairing process and can meaningfully affect satisfaction.

Avoid mixing S2 generations and bundles

Aiper’s current page uses the EcoSurfer S2 name, while retailer titles and older material may use Surfer S2 with different claims. Confirm filter, basket and charging details for the exact unit you order. Do the same for Ultra color and accessory packages.

Our recommendation is to shortlist the current S2 for its documented filtration specification and Ultra for its documented basket capacity and edge hardware. Make pool compatibility, service access and the complete package price the final checks. If the seller cannot reconcile an important specification difference, do not fill the gap by borrowing a number from another region or generation.
